This mosaic overlooking the Boyne river and Tarcoola Drive is my second piece of public art along the Turtleway Artscape. I fell in love with the beautiful location the first time I saw the lookout point right on sunset with all the magical colours of the sky reflecting in the water. I was commissioned to design a day and night scene of local birds using numerous glass tiles similar to the mosaic steps along the Tannum Esplanade that I did 3 years prior.
After last year’s successful artists window installation I was very keen to take part in the annual art project organized by the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum and RADF committee again. I created a temporary land art installation out of found natural objects, which I had arranged around the trunk of a beautiful old tree in the Beaumont Park in Clinton (Gladstone). I had invited the local community to add, take away or rearrange parts of the installation to bring it to live and to symbolize the every changing cycle of our planet.
